Being Entrepreneurial as well as Techno-preneurial University in Sri Lanka, UWU has generated an exemplary studious milieu for the nation inspired by unique theme, “Value addition to the national resources base” UWU continues to produce well rounded graduates capable of contributing to the national development with innovative solutions. Technological innovation contributes to higher levels of economic output and can deliver new goods and services that change human lives and capabilities.
With the prime objective of expanding knowledge horizons while paving the way towards sustainable development, UWU opened its International Research Conference (IRCUWU 2019) under the theme of “Sustainable Business Transition through Technology and Innovations” which was held in February 7-9, 2019 at the Uva Wellassa University premises. IRCUWU 2019, the enormous event, provided a platform for researchers to discuss, share and disseminate research findings at this dignified forum of intellectualities actively engaged in keeping footprints in the journey of Sri Lanka’s Sustainable Development and Enhancing Technology and Innovation.
Noel Scott is Professor and Deputy Director, Griffith Institute for Tourism at Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia. He has four higher education degrees and completed his doctorate at the University of Queensland in 2004. His research interests include the study of tourism experiences, destination management and marketing, and stakeholder organization. He is a frequent speaker at international academic and industry conferences. He has over 210 academic articles published including 13 books. He has supervised 19 doctoral students to successful completion of their theses. He is on the Editorial Board of 10 journals and a member of the International Association of China Tourism Scholars. Prior to starting his academic career in 2001, Noel worked as a senior manager in a variety of leading businesses including as Manager Research and Strategic Services at Tourism and Events Queensland. He has extensive international tourism experience as a trainer, consultant, guest speaker, advisor and mentor.
Prof. Dr. H.H.D.N.P. Opatha is the Senior Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management (HRM), Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka. He is a Litterarum Doctor and has held many academic positions and performed several managerial positions. He holds BSc Bus Adm (Special) (USJ), MSc Bus Adm (HRM) (USJ), MBA (Birmingham), Dip PM&IR (CTC), Dip Eng (CPM), PhD (HRM) (UUM), Doc HRM (IIU), and D.Litt (SUSL). He is the first Professor of HRM (on Merit) in Sri Lanka. He is indeed an erudite scholar, a distinguished author, and an exponent of HRM who received many recognitions and awards locally and internationally. As a matter of fact he is regarded as the Sri Lankan Guru of HRM.
